Quantum & Quantum Ultra Class

The clever ships. Built for cooler seas, longer daylight and unpredictable weather.

Quantum-class ships are Royal Caribbean's answer to shoulder-season Europe, the Alaskan panhandle and the northern reaches of Asia. Big glass windows everywhere, indoor SeaPlex venues that pivot with the weather, and the North Star observation pod that lifts you 300 feet above the sea.

What defines this class

The Quantum & Quantum Ultra experience, in plain English.

Size

Approximately 168,000–169,000 GT, 4,100–5,600 guests. Slightly smaller than Oasis but with a much more indoor-friendly design.

Style

Contemporary, tech-forward, adaptable. Fewer signature outdoor spaces than Oasis — but the indoor venues (SeaPlex, Two70) are unlike anything else at sea.

Suits

Cruisers heading to Alaska, Norway, Japan or shoulder-season Europe; couples and families who want plenty to do on sea days even if the weather turns.

Standout features

What sets these ships apart.

A high-level look — we'll happily go deeper on any of these when we speak.

North Star observation pod

A glass capsule on a mechanical arm that lifts you 300ft above the ship — the best view of any port you'll ever have.

Two70 lounge

A three-storey lounge with a 270-degree glass wall by day, and a screen for RoboScreen shows by night. A genuine wow venue.

SeaPlex

Bumper cars, roller skating, basketball, circus school — all indoors. On a rainy sea day it's transformative.

Dynamic Dining

Four complimentary main dining rooms instead of one — each with a different feel. You choose the room, not the seating time.

Built for all weather

Solarium adults-only glass-roofed pool, indoor promenade replaced by the Royal Esplanade — outdoor weather rarely spoils the day.

Bionic Bar

Robot bartenders that mix your drink — divisive, but a genuine talking point and a good bit of fun.

The ships in this class

Sister ships, considered choices.

Same class, but the newer ships add features and refine layouts. We'll help you weigh year, refit and itinerary together.

Who this class is best for

Is this the right ship for you?

Honest note: If you want Central Park, the Boardwalk or an AquaTheater, that's Oasis-class territory — Quantum trades outdoor signature venues for indoor ones.

  • Anyone booking Alaska, Norway or Northern Europe — the design is built for it.
  • UK cruisers who want to sail from Southampton (Anthem is your ship).
  • Sea-day people — Two70, SeaPlex and North Star make sea days feel short.
  • Couples who want a big-ship experience without Oasis-scale crowds.
  • Families who value indoor variety on cooler-weather cruises.
