Celebrity Edge

The ship that changed what a premium cruise looks like.

Edge was the first of her series, and she still feels like a statement: a cantilevered Magic Carpet moving up the side of the hull, Infinite Verandas that fold the sea into your room, and interiors drawn by designers better known for hotels than shipyards. Refitted and refreshed since her debut, she remains the most accessible way into the Edge Series — the same Retreat, the same Eden, the same four main restaurants, usually at a gentler fare than her younger sisters. We'll tell you honestly when Edge is the smarter buy and when it's worth stepping up.

Onboard

Standout features, at a glance.

A high-level look. We'll go deeper on any of these — including the shows worth pre-booking — when we speak.

The Magic Carpet

The original — a cantilevered platform that travels up the side of the ship. A tender platform on Deck 2, a bar higher up, a dinner venue at the top. Nothing else at sea does this.

Infinite Veranda staterooms

The balcony becomes part of the room at the touch of a button. It divides opinion, and we'll say plainly whether it suits how you use a balcony before you book.

Four included main restaurants

Cyprus, Normandie, Cosmopolitan and Tuscan — four distinct rooms rather than one dining hall, all in your fare. Fine Cut and Rooftop Garden Grill sit alongside as speciality options.

Eden

Three decks of glass at the stern that shift character through the day — morning coffee, afternoon quiet, late-evening performance. Still the most atmospheric room in the series.

The Retreat & Resort Deck

A private sundeck, lounge and Luminae restaurant for suite guests, with a resort-style pool deck below rather than a waterpark. Calm, grown-up and well spaced.

All Included fares

Most UK Edge fares bundle drinks, Wi-Fi and tips. We'll check whether the included package genuinely covers what you'll drink, or whether an upgrade pays for itself.

Cabins & where to book

Not all balconies are equal.

On Edge the decision is usually Infinite Veranda versus a conventional open balcony, whether AquaClass earns its place for your week, and whether The Retreat is worth the step up. Because she's the oldest in the series, the same money often buys a higher category here than on Ascent or Xcel — which is frequently the better trade.

We'll steer you clear of the obstructed views, the cabins under the pool deck and the noisy connecting doors — and towards the ones that quietly go for the same money.

Best value

Mid-ship Infinite Veranda

Central to the Grand Plaza and dining decks, and the steadiest ride. If you want true open-air, we'll point you to the categories that give you one.

Spa pick

AquaClass

SEA Thermal Suite access plus Blu, the AquaClass-only restaurant. On sea-day-heavy Caribbean weeks it often pays for itself.

Upgrade

The Retreat — Sky Suite or above

Private sundeck, Luminae and butler service. On Edge the step up is usually cheaper than on the newer sisters — worth pricing before you rule it out.

Think twice

Cabins directly beneath the Resort Deck

Early-morning lounger movement carries. There are quieter categories a deck or two down for the same fare, and we'll flag them.

Winter

Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale

Eastern and Southern Caribbean weeks with a good balance of sea days for the Resort Deck, Eden and The Retreat.

Summer

Mediterranean from Barcelona and Rome

Western and Eastern Med itineraries with easy short-haul flights from the UK — and the Magic Carpet earning its keep in the tender ports.

Shoulder season

Transatlantic repositioning

Spring and autumn crossings — long, unhurried sea days and often the best value of the year on this ship.
