Silversea · Expedition · Ice-class conversion completed 2021
The classic ship that went to the ice.
Silver Wind entered service in 1995 and was given a strengthened, ice-class hull in 2021, joining her sister Silver Cloud in the expedition fleet. She pairs polar capability and a full expedition team with the all-suite, butlered comfort Silversea guests expect.

Onboard
A high-level look. We'll go deeper on any of these — including the shows worth pre-booking — when we speak.
The 2021 work strengthened the hull and added the expedition infrastructure needed for polar operations.
Naturalists, historians and photographers lecture at sea and lead small groups ashore.
A proper mud room and Zodiac fleet mean quick, orderly landings and coastal cruises in small groups.
The Restaurant, La Terrazza, La Dame and The Grill — a real dinner after a day in the cold.
Butler service throughout, with parkas and boots provided on polar voyages.
Kept below the landing threshold so every guest goes ashore at every opportunity.
Cabins & where to book
Wind shares Cloud's expedition logic: choose for motion and position, not just square footage. Verandas matter far more on an Arctic or warm-water voyage than they do crossing the Drake, and suites near the mud room see early-morning traffic.
We'll steer you clear of the obstructed views, the cabins under the pool deck and the noisy connecting doors — and towards the ones that quietly go for the same money.
Best value
Vista Suite, mid-ship
The steadiest ride on the ship and a sensible saving when you are ashore or on deck most of the day.
Warm-water choice
Veranda Suite
On Mediterranean, African and tropical expedition sailings, private outdoor space is genuinely used.
Quiet choice
Away from the mud room and lounges
Landing operations run early. A suite clear of that traffic makes for calmer mornings.
The splurge
Silver, Royal, Grand or Owner's Suite
Separate living space for long voyages. Layouts vary, so we compare specific suites rather than grades.
